Connectivity of green and blue infrastructures: living veins for biodiverse and healthy cities

Bioveins Syposium: Greening Cities

Biodiversity, Data, and Knowledge. 13 January 2019

Bioveins is just one of many research projects that produce data that we hope will be useful for decision-making, project design, and generally making cities more sustainable, adaptive, and nature-friendly. Does this data actually get used? What can it be used for? How can we use it? What are the problems that data pose, and how do we solve them? When is expertise and site-based knowledge more important than data? What is the articulation between data and other forms of knowledge? How does big data affect our imagination about nature in cities? How do we imagine that nature fits into cities? How do plants and animals fit into business, infrastructure, and sustainability start-ups? We will address all of these issues, ranging from the pragmatic to the philosophic, with an exciting line-up of speakers.

If you are a decision-maker working on green cities, a landscape designer or architect, a social entrepreneur working on urban issues or nature issues-- we are aiming this at you! Or if you are a researcher studying one of these groups or topics, you are very welcome!

There will be 3 parallel workshops in the morning session aimed at decision-makers, designers and entrepreneurs.

The first part of the symposium will be in French with simultaneous translation available. The second half will be in English.

Monday 13 January 2019, Les Canaux (http://www.lescanaux.com), Paris, France.

Registration at www.greening-cities.org OR greencitiessymposium@gmail.com
